Leendert Kamelgarn
Born Rotterdam, Holland, 1921

During World War II on the island of Emeru, a young meteorologist from the Bronx brought a watercolor kit and chronicled the unintentional humor, waste, and brutality of war. He’s been creating a wide-ranging kaleidoscope of images ever since, his media as varied as his choice of themes. Featured here are multi-plate intaglio etchings from the ‘Cosmos’ and ‘Architecture’ series.
